Julia Jiménez Rodríguez is an MA student in Arabic and Hebrew Culture: al-Ándalus and Contemporary World, at the University of Granada (Spain). She is currently completing a traineeship at the G. Tsereteli Institute of Oriental Studies.
Annotation
The presentation will discuss the unique aspects of the Islamic institution of temporary marriage (Nikāḥ al-mutʿa), its global spread, and its transformation into a political instrument, with a focus on its use in Yemen as a mechanism of conflict and coercion.
