Institute for Fundamental and Interdisciplinary Mathematical Research G.Khimshiashvili Apollonius pursuit problem in the space
A general method for solving pursuit problems of the Apollonian type will be described. Using this method we will derive explicit formulas for the optimal direction and duration of pursuit in the case of three-dimensional Euclidean space. Analogous results will be given for the spatial Apollonius pursuit problem in Feynman’s setting. Certain applications of these results to pursuit problems with geometric constraints will be mentioned and several open problems for further research of interested participants will be formulated.
