Ilia State University will host an event at the Book House Ligamus.<\/p>\n<p>During the meeting, Professor Swinburne will introduce his book \u201cFaith and Reason\u201d, which is to be published by Ilia State University Press.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting will be particularly appealing to the students interested in religion and philosophy.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the meeting, Professor Richard Swinburne will be awarded\u00a0 Honorary Professor from Ilia State University.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the Author<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Richard Swinburne began his academic life at the University of Oxford, where he studied philosophy and theology.<\/p>\n<p>He developed an abiding interest in the issue of whether there is adequate justification for belief in God, more particularly in the doctrines of the Christian religion. He was brought up with a Christian background. In 1955, he left the Church of England and converted to Orthodoxy.<\/p>\n<p>Swinburne devoted several years to learning the history of the physical and biological sciences, which was the source of his philosophical reflection.<\/p>\n<p>In 1963, Swinburne became a lecturer in philosophy at the University of Hull. Since 1972, he has been a Professor of Philosophy at the University of Keele. At that time his academic focus was on the philosophy of religion. From 1985 to 2002, he served as Nolloth Professor of the Philosophy of the Christian Religion at the University of Oxford. He was elected a Fellow of the British Academy in 1993.\u00a0 He has held visiting professorships at a number of universities.<\/p>\n<p>His first book, \u201cSpace and Time\u201d, was published in 1968, followed by \u201cThe Concept of Miracle\u201d in 1971. Between 1981 and 1997 his trilogy &#8211; \u201cFaith and Reason\u201d, \u201cThe Existence of God\u201d, and \u201cThe Coherence of Theism\u201d was released. His other works include: \u201cResponsibility and Atonement\u201d(1989), \u201cRevelation\u201d(1992), \u201cThe Christian God\u201d(1994), \u201cProvidence and the Problem of Evil\u201d(1998), \u201cEpistemic Justification\u201d(2001), \u201cThe Resurrection of God Incarnate\u201d(2003), and \u201cMind, Brain, and Free Will\u201d(2013).
