{"id":15107,"date":"2015-05-08T16:01:51","date_gmt":"2015-05-08T12:01:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/events.iliauni.edu.ge\/event\/iliauni-literary-contest-winner-to-be-announced\/"},"modified":"2024-02-02T13:40:18","modified_gmt":"2024-02-02T09:40:18","slug":"iliauni-literary-contest-winner-to-be-announced","status":"publish","type":"tribe_events","link":"https:\/\/events.iliauni.edu.ge\/en\/event\/iliauni-literary-contest-winner-to-be-announced\/","title":{"rendered":"ILIAUNI LITERARY CONTEST WINNER TO BE ANNOUNCED"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On May 14, at 19:00, at Ilia State University (ISU) Book House Ligamus, we are inviting you to attend the birthday party of Iliauni Literary Club at which the winner of Iliauni Literary Contest will be announced.<\/p>\n<p>The Literary Contest of ISU has existed 5 years. In 2010, the academic board of the university made a decision to foster the development of novel writing practice in Georgia through introducing a literary award for the best novel.<\/p>\n<p>So far the prize has been awarded to 4\u00a0nominees. In 2010, the prize was granted to Aka Morchiladze for her novel \u201cMamluki\u201d, while in 2011, Zaza Burchuladze received the same prize for his \u201cInflatable Angel.\u201d In 2012, the prize was not issued; however, in 2013, the pecuniary award was shared between Ana Kordzaia-Samadashvili for her novel \u201cWho Killed Chaika\u201d and Jaba Zarkua for his novel \u201cReaders Must Die.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In 2014, the academic board of ISU decided to issue a prize for the best translation of a foreign language novel. The basis of this decision was the opinion that Georgian translations of brilliant foreign language literary works make worthwhile contributions to the development of novel writing with this contribution being not smaller than that of made by writing of original novels. An author of the best translation published for the last 5 years will be announced as the winner of the contest.<\/p>\n<p>The novels of 7 finalists presented at Iliauni Literary Contest are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Claude Simon \u201cLa Route des Flandres,\u201d Publishing House Intellect, translators Ilia Gasviani, Anzor Abjandadze<\/li>\n<li>Orhan Pamuk \u201cMy Name is Red,\u201d Bakur Sulakauri Publishing House, translator Lia Chlaidze<\/li>\n<li>Knut Hamsun \u201cMysteries,\u201d Bakur Sulakauri Publishing House, translator Tamar Kvijinadze<\/li>\n<li>Virginia Wolf, \u201cTo the Lighthouse,\u201d Bakur Sulakauri Publishing House, translator Lela Dumbadze<\/li>\n<li>Robet Musil, \u201cThe Man Without Qualities,\u201d volume II, Diogene Publishing House, translator Maia Badridze<\/li>\n<li>William Faulkner, \u201cFlags in the Dust,\u201d Diogene Publishing House, translator Zaza Chiladze<\/li>\n<li>Umberto Eco The Name of the Rose, Diogene Publishing House, translator Khatuna Tskhadaze<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The winner will be awarded Iliauni literary Prize of <strong>10,000 GEL<\/strong>.
