SUMMARY:MEETING WITH RICHARD SWINBURNE\, OXFORD UNIVERSITY PROFESSOR
DESCRIPTION:On May 23\, at 11:00\, Richard Swinburne\, an Emeritus Professor of Philosophy at the University of Oxford\, will meet with students and professors. Ilia State University will host an event at the Book House Ligamus. \nDuring the meeting\, Professor Swinburne will introduce his book “Faith and Reason”\, which is to be published by Ilia State University Press. \nThe meeting will be particularly appealing to the students interested in religion and philosophy. \nAt the end of the meeting\, Professor Richard Swinburne will be awarded  Honorary Professor from Ilia State University. \nAbout the Author \nRichard Swinburne began his academic life at the University of Oxford\, where he studied philosophy and theology. \nHe developed an abiding interest in the issue of whether there is adequate justification for belief in God\, more particularly in the doctrines of the Christian religion. He was brought up with a Christian background. In 1955\, he left the Church of England and converted to Orthodoxy. \nSwinburne devoted several years to learning the history of the physical and biological sciences\, which was the source of his philosophical reflection. \nIn 1963\, Swinburne became a lecturer in philosophy at the University of Hull. Since 1972\, he has been a Professor of Philosophy at the University of Keele. At that time his academic focus was on the philosophy of religion. From 1985 to 2002\, he served as Nolloth Professor of the Philosophy of the Christian Religion at the University of Oxford. He was elected a Fellow of the British Academy in 1993.  He has held visiting professorships at a number of universities. \nHis first book\, “Space and Time”\, was published in 1968\, followed by “The Concept of Miracle” in 1971. Between 1981 and 1997 his trilogy – “Faith and Reason”\, “The Existence of God”\, and “The Coherence of Theism” was released. His other works include: “Responsibility and Atonement”(1989)\, “Revelation”(1992)\, “The Christian God”(1994)\, “Providence and the Problem of Evil”(1998)\, “Epistemic Justification”(2001)\, “The Resurrection of God Incarnate”(2003)\, and “Mind\, Brain\, and Free Will”(2013). In 2014 he obtained a master’s degree in European Studies and then in 2021 – a doctoral degree in History from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). His PhD dissertation “German-Georgian Cooperation in 1918” was awarded magna cum laude. In various years\, he received Georgia’s Presidential Master’s and the Baden-Württemberg doctorate scholarships. He is the author of one monograph\, several scientific articles and a co-author of a compilation of sources. Since 2021\, he has been an ISU visiting lecturer and a participant in international research projects. \n\nAbout the book \nBrill | Schöningh publishing house published the book in German in 2022. SUMMARY:PERFORMANCE "THE MISFORTUNE OF DARISPAN"
DESCRIPTION:In 1 Act \nPresenting a century-old story of how a Georgian gentry Darispan wanders with one of his four unmarried daughters Karozhna from doorstep to doorstep\, from friends to relatives\, from acquaintances to neighbours to somehow secure a decent husband for her to ensure that her future is taken care of. \nThis story\, tragic and comic at the same time\, is saturated with enormous love towards the country which “was always shot at but has never died”.
