DESCRIPTION:On 25 November\, 10:30 Jouya Jadidian will host a public lecture: “Startup Culture in Silicon Valley”. \nEver wondered why silicon-valley has been and continues to be a hub for unicorn start-ups in all disciplines? How this bay  area attracts the top technology talent\, entrepreneur\, and businesspeople? We will talk about the culture and processes that give this part of the world a unique head start. \nNext\, we review the top technology trends among best funded startups and take a look at a few successful stories in these fields. \nLastly\, we discuss what it takes to transform a new idea and to a successful business by building a vision and a team around it\, raise money in different stages\, protect the intellectual property and eventually go to market and scale. \nAbout the Speaker \nJouya Jadidiani received a PhD in electrical engineering and computer science from MIT in 2013 where he stayed for a year after to work on a couple of startups before joining Apple in 2014. SUMMARY:AI in Medical Imaging
DESCRIPTION:On 26 November\, 10:30 Sepideh Almasi will host a public lecture: “AI in Medical Imaging”. \nMedical image analysis having a direct influence on patients survival demands a great deal of time and accuracy from radiologists. To improve the quality of clinical workflow and increase the patient care level\, researchers have developed a wide range of algorithms that based on machine learning and computer vision concepts\, automatically or with small supervision handle images and deliver actionable insights. Sefide Almas\, lead engineer of Silicon Valley based AI Imaging Startup Ninesai\, will look into some of these techniques and their impact on healthcare. \nAbout the Speaker  \nSepideh Almasi started her research in medical image processing at Radiology department of Harvard Medical School in 2011.  After finishing her PhD at Tufts University in electrical and computer engineering\, she joined school of medicine at Stanford University as a postdoctoral fellow focusing on improving the resolution of microscopy images.
