SUMMARY:Hans Christian Andersen – fairytales and beyond
DESCRIPTION:Hans Christian Andersen (1805-1875) is one of the world’s most translated writers. Outside of Denmark\, he is mostly famed for his fairytales\, although he was also an important poet\, novelist and writer of travel literature. \nIn this lecture\, we will investigate the unique style and content of Andersen’s fairytales\, and how they take the child’s point of view\, but always with a deeper existential meaning or dilemma\, appealing to a more mature audience. Thus\, in a broader sense\, we will see how the works of Andersen reflect the diverse thought\, art and literature of the Romantic Period in the 19th century – and beyond. \nIt would be very usefull\, if the audience would have read a fairytale beforehand. The guest lecturer recommends it being The Nightingale – for instance in this translation: \nhttp://www.andersen.sdu.dk/vaerk/hersholt/TheNightingale_e.html \nDr. Kenneth Reinecke Hansen is associate professor at the Department of Teacher Education\, University College Copenhagen\, where he mainly teaches and does research in the area of Danish language\, literature and media. He earned his PhD in Linguistics and Journalism\, and his MA in Nordic Languages and Literature\, and Philosophy. His current research interests include fake news\, pupils’ news media literacy\, and children’s moral (dis)engagement. He has published books and articles on\, i.a.\, television news dramaturgy\, clickbait headlines\, future-oriented journalism\, media didactics\, media framing\, and Danish orthography. \nThe Lecture will be held in English. \nAttendence is free. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n[wpai_display_imported_files_here]
