SUMMARY:Korean Traditional Games
DESCRIPTION:Ilia State University will organize Korean Week with the support of partner Korean universities\, associations and diplomatic missions\, which will take place on May 14-20\, 2022\, to mark the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Korea and Georgia. \nWe are inviting you to participate in the Korean Traditional Games during the Korean Week on May 18\, at 15:30. \nYou will be able to familiarize with the instructions and take part in such games as: Hanbok\, Seoye (calligraphy)\, Tuho\, Jegichagi\, Ddakji. \nThe event will be held in the physical space and you can attend it by pre-registration (the event will be attended by the first 50 registered participants). \nTo register\, follow the link: https://bit.ly/3MmLVIS \nHanbok \nHanbok is the traditional Korean attire that can be traced back to the Three Kingdoms of Korea period (1st century BC – 7th century AD). However\, present day Hanbok is patterned after the hanbok worn in the Joseon dynasty and is often worn on traditional holidays or official events. \nSeoye \nKorean calligraphy\, also known as Seoye\, is the Korean tradition of artistic writing. This art form derived from Chinese calligraphy was later introduced to Korea and Japan and reflects the tradition of writing on paper in Hanja (Chinese characters) and Hangul\, the native Korean alphabet. \nDdakji \nDdakji\, a traditional Korean toy\, is made from folded pieces of paper. It can be played easily; the goal is to flip the opponent’s Ddakji placed on the floor by throwing yours. \nTuho \nTuho was mostly played by royal families or Yanban (nobles of the Joseon period) families in the backyard of the house. The goal is to throw arrows into the pot from a distance. Players are divided into two teams. The team that throws the most arrows in the pot wins. \nTime: May 18\, 15:30 – 16:30 \nLocation: The first 50 registered participants will receive a location address via text message. \n2022 \n  \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n[wpai_display_imported_files_here]

SUMMARY:Summarizing event of the project "Expansion and Improvement of Services for People with Autism Spectrum Disorder in Georgia"
DESCRIPTION:On December 3\, on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities\, Caritas Czech Republic and the Institute for Child Development of Ilia State University held a summarizing conference of the project “Expanding and Improving Services for People with Autism Spectrum Disorders in Georgia” funded by the Czech Development Agency. \nThe event was opened by Nino Doborjginidze\, Vice-Rector of Ilia State University\, Nino Tsintsadze\, Director of the Institute for Child Development of Ilia State University and Jan Blinka\, Head of the Mission of Caritas Czech Republic in Georgia. \nThe project aimed to provide quality and affordable services for people with autism spectrum\, as well as professional development of specialists in the field across the country. \nAt the summarizing conference\, Rusudan Chkhubianishvili\, Project Manager of the Caritas Czech Republic\, introduced the results achieved in 2015-2021 and the challenges of the work process to the audience. The head of the Institute for Child Development\, Nino Tsintsadze\, spoke about the importance of the steps taken to support the field as a result of a six-year partnership\, improving the quality of services and diversity. \nOne of the most important parts of the conference was the presentation of the preliminary results of the project “Prevalence of Autism Spectrum Disorders\, Clinical Peculiarities and Risk Factors in Georgia” conducted within the project. Maia Gabunia\, Chair of the Georgian Academy for Childhood Disabilities and Project Expert\, Gvantsa Chvamania\, Acting Chair of the Association of Behavioral Analysts\, spoke about the emerging trends in the research and presented a report on the importance of the Association’s legislative initiative. If approved\, the initiative will regulate the activities of behavior analysts. \n“Ilia State University has been implementing vital research and educational projects for the country and the region since its foundation. I would especially like to highlight the projects dictated by our social responsibility. This is especially mentioned in the strategy and implies the creation of equal opportunities\, research and teaching in this area. The Institute for Child Development at Ilia State University is unique in the whole region\, it is really a distinctive space\, which\, under the leadership of one scientific team\, offers both teaching-education as well as research and service part. It is for this purpose that the Institute for Child Development was established\, which creates vital resources in all three areas. Acquiring such a broad function\, establishing an institute that is fully capable of operating\, is unimaginable without the support of large international partners. Caritas Czech Republic was such a supporter.” – Nino Doborjginidze\, Vice-Rector of Iliauni. \n“The project is very important for people with autism spectrum in Georgia\, because their services have been significantly improved across the country. We have worked with many stakeholders in various areas – including the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories\, Health\, Labor and Social Affairs of Georgia\, the Institute for Child Development at Iliauni- to offer a variety of services in the region at the national level We have supported the service standards of people with autism spectrum disorders\, and a general framework has been set up for all service providers to provide quality services for children with autism spectrum disorders\, including at the municipal level. ” – Jan Blinka\, Head of the Mission of Caritas Czech Republic. \n“The aim of the project is to create a supportive environment for people with autism spectrum in Georgia\, as well as to raise the qualification of specialists working with children with autism spectrum and their professional development\, in order to provide quality service to beneficiaries. Our goal is also to promote inclusive preschool education in Georgian kindergartens. The project started in 2015. At that time the service was available only in Tbilisi\, there were services in the regions as well\, but they were not of good quality. We aimed to strengthen the regions in this direction\, for which we actively used the expertise of Ilia State University. Through its specialists\, regular supervision was carried out on the place for local autism centers. With our support for quality assurance\, an autism detection and management protocol has been approved\, which is actively used by specialists and representatives of the primary health care industry\, and the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories\, Health\, Labor and Social Affairs of Georgia has approved a minimum standard of service\, a guide for municipalities\,  they know What standard should the services they provide meet the needs of children\, but the condition of adults and persons with an adult autism spectrum remains open as there is no service for them\, which is very disturbing. We want the project to continue in this direction – we are looking for state support and new donors who may be interested in this issue.’’ – Rusudan Chkhubianishvili\, Manager of the Project “Expanding and Improving Services for People with Autism Spectrum Disorders in Georgia.” \nThe participation in the Caritas Czech project has enabled the Institute for Child Development of Ilia State University to introduce two new\, modern and very important models for children with autism. One is the Denver early school model\, the other is the top model. The first is for children from 2 to 5 years\, the second – for children from 2 to 12 years. It is very important to ensure sustainability in the sense that the service is already underway\, research on Denver will begin soon\, and Serci has become part of the curriculum. ”Nino Tsintsadze\, Head of the Institute for Child Development at Iliauni. \nAt the end of the event\, Ilia State University Professor Tinatin Chincharauli handed over certificates to the graduates of the University’s International Certification Course in Behavior Analysis. \nThe project implemented by Caritas Czech Republic was aimed at expanding and improving the services of people with autism spectrum\, as well as professional training of specialists in the field. Caritas Czech Republic implemented the project with the financial support of the Czech Development Agency (EUR 255 000) and in close cooperation with the Institute for Child Development of Ilia State University and the Academy for Children with Disabilities. The project was developed in cooperation with the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories\, Health\, Labor and Social Affairs of Georgia\, taking into account the government’s priorities in this area. \nKey achievements of the project: \n\nFamily physicians and health professionals across the country have been trained to identify the risk of autism spectrum disorders;\nFive regions of Georgia are required to identify the autism spectrum\, considered the “gold standard” of diagnosis\, the so-called. The ADOS tool was delivered and trained by relevant specialists in its use;\nABA specialists have been trained in the use of child assessment tools (ABLLS-R and EFL)\, which are essential for the full implementation of ABA therapy;\n15 specialists were funded who completed the international certification course required to qualify as a Behavior Therapy Supervisor;\nIn parallel with the ABA\, two alternative approaches to autism intervention – the Denver Early Intervention Model and the SCERTS (Social Communication\, Emotional Regulation\, Transactional Support) model – were introduced\, the specialists were trained;\nThe model of inclusive education was presented to three pilot kindergartens of Georgia\, special teachers and kindergarten educators were trained;\nA model for evaluating the autism program was presented to various municipalities\, with some allocating the budget needed for the program and others increasing the number of hours required for both beneficiaries and therapy;\nIn 2018\, the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories\, Health\, Labor and Social Affairs of Georgia approved the National Protocol on Autism Detection\, Diagnosis and Management;\nIn 2020\, the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories\, Health\, Labor and Social Affairs of Georgia approved the “Minimum Service Standards for People with Autism”;\nThe Association of Behavioral Analysts has developed and submitted to Parliament a legislative initiative that\, if approved\, would regulate the activities of behavioral analysts.\n\nRead more about the project: https://bit.ly/3cBPGdl \n2021 \n  \n  \n  \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n[wpai_display_imported_files_here]

The so-called ADOS tool was delivered and trained specialists were trained in its use.\nABA specialists have been trained in using professional child assessment tools (ABLLS-R and EFL)\, which are essential for the full implementation of ABA therapy.\nFifteen specialists were funded who took the international certification course required to qualify as Behavior Therapy supervisors.\nIn parallel with the ABA\, two alternative approaches to autism intervention – the Denver Early Intervention Model and the SCERTS (Social Communication\, Emotional Regulation\, Transactional Support) model were introduced\, trained specialists.\nThe inclusive education model was presented to three pilot kindergartens of Georgia\, special teachers and kindergarten educators were trained.\nAn autism program evaluation model was presented to various municipalities. Consequently\, some of them have allocated the required budget for this program\, while others have increased the number of hours required for both the beneficiaries involved in the program and the therapy.\nIn 2018\, the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories\, Health\, Labor and Social Affairs approved the National Protocol on Autism Detection\, Diagnosis and Management. \nIn 2020\, the Ministry of Health approved the “Minimum Standards for Services for People with Autism.”\nThe Association of Behavior Analysts has developed and submitted to Parliament a legislative initiative that\, if approved\, would lead to the regulation of the activities of Behavior Analysts.\n\n2021\n  \n  \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n[wpai_display_imported_files_here]

SUMMARY:2022 Hybrid Conference: From Research to Practice
DESCRIPTION:What can we do to help ensure that sound pedagogical research informs our teaching? What can we do to foster the flow of information in both directions—from classroom practice back to formulating new research questions and generating data to test what we think we “know”? And what directions should new research take to best serve our students and teaching staff in their day-to-day work? In other words\, how can 21st-century research continue to improve teaching and learning? \nThese questions underlie the theme of the 2022 IUT conference: “From Research to Practice.” \nIn many universities today there is still a gap between the two. Traditional forms of teaching\, including the much-maligned lecture\, have demonstrated remarkable resiliency\, while innovative practices\, such as flipped classrooms and extended student discussions\, have often faced resistance from both teachers and students. These and other challenges have increased with the pandemic\, which has transformed classroom teaching in unpredictable and often negative ways. \nOver three days we will explore the links between research and teaching in the hopes of providing some answers to the questions posed above. Given the continuing uncertainties of the COVID pandemic\, however\, the format of IUT 2022 remains fluid. Our strong hope is to meet in person in Tbilisi\, the capital of Georgia\, where the Ilia State University is ready and eager to host our 2022 meeting. We recognize that COVID-related travel policies remain fluid and inconsistent across regions. Therefore we remain flexible in our choice of format. If emergent conditions prevent an in-person conference\, we will return to the live\, 72-hour format successfully used in 2020 and 2021. If we are able to gather in Tbilisi\, we will adopt a hybrid format\, which will allow remote participation from delegates who are unable to journey to Georgia. \nWhatever the final format—hybrid or remote—we hope that you will join us in July\, 2022 for what promises to be another inspiring and useful IUT global conference. \nSubmit Proposal Here \n2021 \n  \n  \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n[wpai_display_imported_files_here]

SUMMARY:Scientific-Reporting Conference: Memory Places and the Symbolic Environment of Georgian National Identity
DESCRIPTION:On November 5\, at 18:00 p.m. \, Ilia State University will host an online scientific-reporting conference “Places of Memory and the Symbolic Environment of Georgian National Identity“. \nThe conference will present the research results of the scientific project for fundamental researches conducted within the framework of the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia State Science Grant (N FR17_624). \nThe title of the project is “Georgian National Identity and ’’Places of Memory “: Dominant and Alternative Perspectives on the Construction of the Past”. \nThe representatives of various disciplines of humanities and social sciences (history\, political science\, sociology\, cultural studies\, comparative literature)\, Ilia State University (leading organization) and professors and young researchers of Iv. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (co-participant organization) worked on this scientific project during 2018-2021. \nBased on the research\, a special issue of the international peer-reviewed journal Caucasus Survey was published this year – Rethinking Memory Sites and Symbolic Realms of Georgian National Identity. Also\, a Georgian language collection of the same works is being prepared for publication at Ilia State University Publishing House. \nEach work included in the special issue and collection is placed in a common interdisciplinary framework and complements each other. The authors consider the memory places discussed by them as integral and interconnected structural elements of the Georgian complex symbolic environment. Consequently\, there are many points of contact and intersection between separate works in terms of research issues\, concepts and theoretical approaches\, which presented an interesting picture of the relationship between Georgian historical knowledge\, collective memory and national identity. \nThe conference program is available at: https://bit.ly/3nUDY2B \nThe meeting will be held remotely\, in an online format\, through the program Zoom and you can attend it at the address: https://bit.ly/3BA4Tp8 \nAlso\, live broadcast will be provided on the official Facebook page of Ilia State University\, at the address: https:www.facebook.com/Iliauni \nAbout Researches \nThe research highlights the turning points of the emergence and dynamics of modern Georgian nationalism from the second half of the 19th century to the present day. The genealogical perspective allows us to observe the stages of formation of the collective memory of the Georgian society\, in the context of different political conjunctures: \n\nDuring the period of Russian Imperial rule in Georgia\, at the same time during the Georgian nationalism (from the second half of the 19th century);\nIn the short period of construction of the First Republic\, the Nation State ( 1918-1921);\nIn the area of radical and often traumatic transformations of the Soviet period (1921-1991) and finally\,\nIn the post-Soviet era\, when a comprehensive process of collective memory\, another\, fundamental reconfiguration began.\n\nSpecifically\, the authors and speakers focused on the most important places of the memory that contribute to the historical consciousness and collective memory of the Georgian society\, including: Ilia Chavchavadze as a symbolic figure and place of memory; \n\nMtatsminda Pantheon of Georgian writers and public figures;\nStalin monuments as places of conflicting memory;\nSymbolic area of Tbilisi as a Georgian national identity and cultural memory;\nNarrative between David IV the builder and battle of Didgori\, as a source of historical ideas about the territorial integrity of Georgia;\nConstruction of the national identity and memory places for Georgian Migrants in the United States and Germany.\n\nTime: November 5\, 18:00 – 20:30 p.m. \nFormat: Remote\, Zoom platform at https://bit.ly/3BA4Tp8 \n2021 \n  \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n[wpai_display_imported_files_here]
