SUMMARY:Diploma Project Presentation
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, December 21\, 15:00\, Ilia State University (building B\, room 202) will host an exhibition titled “ANIMAL PLANET”. The project will be presented by the graduates of ISU Center of Fine and Applied Arts\, specialized in the following five directions: \n\nEasel Painting;\nJewelry Art (Gold-work and Enamel);\nComputer Design and Easel Graphics;\nInterior\, Exterior\, Monumental painting\, Ceramics and Stained-glass window art;\nMonument Protection and Restoration (buildings\, painting\, stone\, wood and metal processing)\n\nAll alumni  have performed the individual works which are combined by the common concept of a unified composition. \nThe idea of the project has been derived from the current reality. The modern technical progress has endangered the flora and fauna diversity of our planet to search the maximum comfort for humans. The irrational behavior of Homo sapiens leads to the extinction of the several animal species and many of them are at risk of disappearance; this is ultimately the guarantee of human-being destruction. \nWith the project “ANIMAL PLANET”\, the students tried to remind mankind the existence of an invisible chain\, connecting all living creatures of our planet with each other. The world is a whole-organism\, where everyone\, even the smallest creature has an important place and the people are obliged to protect and defend them because of his existence on this planet not to be ever questionable. \n\n[wpai_display_imported_files_here]

SUMMARY:Public Lecture by Professor Peter Kabachnik
DESCRIPTION:The College of Staten Island Professor Peter Kabachnik will deliver a public lecture on the topic: \n“Questions of Memory in Post-Soviet Space: The Multiple Meanings of Stalin in Georgia”. \nThe following topics will be discussed during the lecture: What is the contemporary impact of memory politics across post-Soviet space? While there is a growing debate on the politics of memory\, it is necessary to highlight the importance of how memory is spatialized and represented in the landscape. The various meanings and contestations over memory and symbols are often manifested in public space. Therefore\, how places of memory are negotiated in everyday life becomes integral for a better understanding of these debates. This talk will explore a variety of questions\, issues\, and repercussions contending with memories and perspectives of Stalin and the Soviet era. \nThe public lecture will take place on December 17\, 18:00\, room A101 (Chavchavadze Ave. 32\, first floor). \nAttendance is free. \n\n[wpai_display_imported_files_here]

SUMMARY:Seminar “About TV Series”
DESCRIPTION:On December 13\, 17:00\, Ilia State University will host a seminar “About TV Series”. \nVenue: Cholokashvili Ave. 3/5\, Building G\, room 106 \nThe TV series emerged in the 50es of the previous century. Everyone agrees that during the last 15 years\, their quality has been radically changed for the better. The attitude of viewers has also altered in Georgia and the rest of the world.  Almost disappeared snobbery towards the “genre for the masses”\, and the aesthetic and intellectual interests emerged instead.Despite these interests\, the theoretical reflection on the TV series\, as an aesthetic-sociological or aesthetic-historical phenomenon\, still remains very limited in the western academies and completely non-existent in Georgia. \nThe seminar aims to fill the existing gaps.  The first speech “About TV Series: Brave New World” will be delivered by Prof. Gigi Tevzadze. And\, the second one will be made by Prof. Giga Zedania “The form of TV Series: From the 19th Century Literature to the Modern TV”. \nFor attendance\, please register till December 12\, 2013: pr@iliauni.edu.ge \n  \n\n\n[wpai_display_imported_files_here]
