DESCRIPTION:On November 30\, 12:00\, Georgia’s  Minister of Penitentiary\, Probation and Legal Assistance Khatuna Kalmakhelidze  will meet students of Ilia State University at G106 (Venue: G.Tsereteli str. 3). \nThe main sense and goals of the meeting are: \nMs. Kalmakhelidze will familiarize the audience with news\, ongoing projects and plans being implemented by the Ministry of Penitentiary\, Probation and Legal Assistance within the framework of the ten-point plan. \nThe 10-point Plan aims at creating new jobs\, reducing a rate of unemployment and providing economic development. For that reason\, the ministry will take care for people after being released from the prison to be educated\, employed and integrated into the labor market. For implementing the above-mentioned goals\, several education houses have been put in action. They have a possibility to learn some occupations and obtain crucial skills. In addition\, the rehabilitation and employment  related activities are actively being implemented. SUMMARY:Public lecture by Dr. Thomas L. Holzer
DESCRIPTION:Ilia State University Hall A 101 will host a public lecture on “How many catastrophic earthquakes and global earthquake fatalities will there be in the 21st century?” by Dr. Thomas L. Holzer. \nDr. Thomas L. Holzer is an engineering geologist with the U.S. Geological Survey in Menlo Park\, California. He has a B.S.E. degree in geological engineering from Princeton University (1965) and a M.S. degree in hydrology (1966) and a Ph.D. degree in geology from Stanford University (1970). He is a certified engineering geologist in the State of California\, and a consulting professor at Stanford University in the Departments of Geological and Environmental Sciences and Civil and Environmental Engineering. He has broad experience with earthquake hazards as well as ground failure in general. He has participated in numerous post-earthquake investigations and chaired the committee that wrote The Plan to coordinate NEHRP post-earthquake investigations (2003). He has served as a consultant to the State of California during reviews of residential earthquake insurance rate applications based on earthquake loss models. He was the 1998 Richard H. Jahns Distinguished Lecturer and the 1995 recipient of the Distinguished Service Award from the Hydrogeology Division of the Geological Society of America. \nMr. John R. SUMMARY:Presentation of English–Georgian Online Dictionary
DESCRIPTION:A comprehensive English-Georgian Online Dictionary is already available for ISU students.  On October 31\, 15.00\, the Lexicographic Centre at the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University represents the comprehensive English-Georgian Online Dictionary based on the volumes of the Georgian-English dictionaries being published by the centre since 1996. The presentation will be held at Ilia State University Bookstore “Ligamus”. \nAbout the Dictionary: \nThe Comprehensive English Georgian Dictionary presently contains up to 110 000 entries. Taking into consideration the fact that dictionary entries fully represent the polysemy of English words\, contain numerous collocations\, phrasal verbs\, phraseological units\, ample amount of scientific and technical\, economic and artistic terms\, as well as terms from various other fields – the total material is as comprehensive as up to 800 000 units. \nThe internal search system of the Online Dictionary enables the search for English words\, collocations\, phrasal verbs. \nThe detailed information about the site as well as video instructions is placed in the “Dictionary Instruction” section. \nWorking on a dictionary is a never-ending process. Language is changing constantly\, reflecting the changes which affect the society using the language in question. Within the language there appear new words\, or already existing words develop additional meanings; some words and meanings fall into disuse; the register of word usage is undergoing permanent changes.  The Comprehensive English-Georgian Online Dictionary is a “living” dictionary\, for its editorial team is constantly updating the Dictionary\, adding new entries\, improving and refining the definitions and this work is set to continue also in the future. \nThe English Georgian Dictionary is primarily intended for specialists on English\, teachers\, translators and specialists from other fields of knowledge\, who have to deal with specialist texts; the Dictionary is also intended for students\, generally for the individuals who study English\, as well as for those who are interested in the English language. \n\n[wpai_display_imported_files_here]

DESCRIPTION:On October 18\, at 11:00 a.m.\, Professor S. Ismat Shah (University of Delaware\, USA) will deliver a public lecture on “Nanotechnology and Future Energy Options” at Ilia State University Hall A 101(Chavchavadze Ave. 32). \nThere are only few alternative energy sources that are viable for life-after fossil fuels. Photovoltaics are arguably at the top of the list. With the exponential growth in the production of solar-cell modules all over the world\, including several developing nations like Thailand and Indonesia\, the research for increasingly higher efficiency solar cells is in full swing. Several new materials\, processes and device designs are being proposed that hold promise for the success of this technology. The talk will survey the current practices and problems with special emphasis on materials development\, particularly nanomaterials. SUMMARY:Kindergarten Management Strategy
DESCRIPTION:On October 6\, 2011\, 11:30 a.m.\, Ilia State University (Hall A 101\, Chavchavadze Ave. 32) will host a presentation of the Education Program and Management Strategies for Kindergartens. The presentation will be attended by Gigi Ugulava\, Tbilisi Mayor; Peter Langerberg\, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Netherlands to Georgia and Ruland Monash\, Representative of UNICEF in Georgia. \nAccording to the new initiative of Tbilisi City Hall\, the educational processes occurring in the kindergartens located in Tbilisi will be developed in line with the new program.  The new everyday program based on child development standards has been launched in the ISU Pre-School Education Centre with support of UNICEF and aims to enhance social\, emotional\, cognitive\, oral\, physical and creative skills of children. \nOn October 8\, 2011 the cycle of trainings dedicated to the management strategies for kindergartens will take start and last throughout five months. The training will cover the whole staff of the kindergartens and be carried out by Georgian Portage Association with support of MATRA Program of the Embassy of Netherlands in Georgia and Agency of the Kindergarten’s Management. \nThe second document entitled “Management Strategy for Kindergartens” has been created within the reforms of the kindergartens placed in Tbilisi with the purpose of developing the system and service of pre-school institutions. \nThe strategy aims to create the environment oriented on child’s rights and interests in pre-school education institutions. The documentation regulates the following issues: necessary documentations for child’s development and health\, nutrition\, hygiene\, healthcare\, inclusion of children with special needs\, involvement of family members in education process\, physical and social environment and etc. The last chapter of the document illustrates the specific strategies to implement the above-mentioned issues into practice. \n\n[wpai_display_imported_files_here]
