SUMMARY:Program “Translation and Terminology”
DESCRIPTION:Certification program “Translation and Terminology” prepares highly qualified professional translators and equips them with methodological knowledge and skills necessary for translation of any type of texts. \nDuration of the course is one semester. Tuition fee is 850 GEL. \nCandidates\, who would like to participate in the certificate program\, should already have a BA degree or provide proof of a three-year university general education in any field. Candidate should speak at least one European language (English\, German\, French\, Spanish or Italian). Knowledge of Russian language is a plus. Candidates will be invited to an interview and a written exam. \nAfter completing of the certificate program\, graduates will have gained terminology in different fields (policy\, economics\, law\, scientific and technical fields) in their native and two foreign languages and will be able to use them during written translations. \nGraduates of the program will be able to work as translators at the state or private institutions: Ministry of Justice\, Office of the Prosecutor\, banks\, parliament\, different state and private enterprises. \nPresentation of the program will be held on October 13\, 2010 2pm at the Ilia State University (address: 32 Ilia Chavchavadze Avenue\, building “A”\, room #101). \nInterested persons can register at Ilia State University (address: 32 Ilia Chavchvavadze Avenue\, building “A”\, room #201). SUMMARY:Public Lecture at the Ilia State University
DESCRIPTION:On October 2-9\, 2010 Georgia will host a working visit of representatives of the University of Oslo. This visit is to take place in the framework of the project “Norwegian Way to Inclusion”. The administration of the program is the Association of Disabled Women and Mothers of Disabled Children “Dea”. Support for the project is provided by the Ministry of Education and Sciences of Georgia and the Government of Norway. The project is carried out as an offshoot of a bigger project\, “Development of Inclusive Education in Nine Regions and Schools of the Adjara Autonomous Republic”.  Its goal is to popularize and support the implementation of approved Western innovative ideological methods of inclusive education. \nOne of the activities of the project includes the organization of public lectures for the representatives of the professional community at the Ilia State University. The goal of the lectures is to raise awareness about the Norwegian experience concerning inclusive education and transfer knowledge to Georgian professional circles and other stakeholders. \nLectures will be delivered by the following representatives of the University of Oslo: \nMrs. Miriam Skjørten: founder of the international graduate program of education philosophy for special needs persons at the University of Oslo and coordinator of other academic programs. She is a renowned scholar in the field of inclusive ideology and problems connected with its implementation. She is especially well known for her research in the comparative teaching of sciences and the role of cultural events related to special needs education. Mrs. Skjørten is actively involved in the process of cooperation development between different universities of different continents. \nProf. Berit Johnsen – associate professor at the University of Oslo\, Department of Special Needs Education. The areas of her scientific research lies within the general education system\, history of special needs education\, thinking traditions and verbal communication. DESCRIPTION:On Wednesday\, October 6\, 2010\, 5pm first year PhD students from the field of political sciences (enrolled in the Fall Semester 2010-2011) will have a chance to attend an information session on scholarships provided by the program “Academic Swiss Caucasus Net” (www.ascn.ch). This meeting will take place at Ilia State University (address: 32 Ilia Chavchavadze Avenue\, building “A”\, room #101). It will be moderated by the dean of the School of Graduate Studies David Aprasidze and a representative of the “Academic Swiss Caucasus Net” Tiko Khadagishvili. \n“Academic Swiss Caucasus Net” is a five-year program\, which sets the goal to develop humanities and social sciences in the Caucasus. \nThe scholarship offers a monthly stipend of 700 GEL. First year PhD students of the Ilia State University who are enrolled in the program of political sciences and whose dissertation thesis concerns issues of democratization and transition are eligible to apply for the scholarship this funding. DESCRIPTION:On Friday\, October 1\, 2010 at 4PM at Ilia State University in Tbilisi\, the U.S. Embassy Consular Chief\, Patrick R. Wingate\, will hold the presentation on the Diversity Visa Lottery Program for 2012\, otherwise known as the “Green Card Lottery.” \nThe Green Card Lottery\, offers eligible applicants the opportunity to legally immigrate to the United States based on the random\, computerized selection of all eligible entries from around the world. Each year\, 55\,000 immigrant visas are made available to qualified applicants born in a country with a low rate of immigration to the United States. \nThe new season for Green Card Lottery entries will last a total of thirty days beginning on Tuesday\, October 5\, 2010 and ending on Wednesday\, November 3\, 2010.  The only web site from which you may officially enter your name for the lottery is www.dvlottery.state.gov. DESCRIPTION:On June 9\, at 7pm\, presentation of four new graduate programs of the Ilia State University will take place at the Ilia Chavchavadze Saguramo House. \nThe programs are: \n\n    Georgian Studies\n    Caucasus and Black Sea Region Studies\n    Identity Studies\n    Soviet and Post-Soviet Studies\n\nGraduate programs of the Ilia State University are unique for Georgia. They are based on inter- and multidisciplinary research principles\, meeting the international standards of humanitarian and social sciences. \nOver the course of several years\, established scholars of humanitarian and social sciences will conduct joint studies on various research topics at Ilia State University. SUMMARY:The First Joint Project of Artists from Iliauni
DESCRIPTION:On June 6\, at 5pm\, the yard of the Vake Basement Theatre (address: 32 Ilia Chavchavadze Ave.) will host exhibition of diploma projects of the first group of graduates from the Center of Fine and Applied Arts. \nEach project unites students from four different study programs. These are: \n\n   Monumental drawing\, ceramics and stained-glass window\n   Computer design and graphics\n   Jewellery (gold-smith and enamel)\n   Cloth\, shoe and fabric design.\n\nStudents form the musical center wrote music for each separate project based on their concepts. \n\n[wpai_display_imported_files_here]

DESCRIPTION:On June 26\, at 1pm\, Ilia State University (building A\, room #101\, address: 32 Ilia Chavchavadze Ave.) will host a public presentation of student projects. Students will discuss various topics in the framework of the course on “Communication\, Presentation and Discussion Techniques”. \nJury will name the winner teams and the best among them will be awarded university certificates and symbolic gifts. \nPublic presentations were already held at the end of the Spring Semester 2009. At that time\, team “Odabade” and its presentation “Something that Can Only Be Found in Georgia” were acknowledged as the best among 15 other presentations and teams. SUMMARY:Festive Graduation for Undergraduate Students
DESCRIPTION:In 2010\, more than thousand undergraduate students completed their studies at the Ilia State University. Festive Ceremony of graduation was held on June 26. \nRector of the University\, Prof. Gigi Tevzadze congratulated the graduates and addressed them with the following words: “We gave you the highest possible freedom –  the freedom of choice. I wish you success as it is a prerequisite for calmness and freedom.” \nGraduates were greeted by the Public Defender of Georgia\, Giorgi Tughushi who noted that: “Life is full of challenges and obstacles. The knowledge received at the Ilia State University will support you in the process of overcoming the challenges.” \nTraditionally\, a number of students addressed the audience. According to them\,  Ilia State University met their expectations. What attracted them most is the liberal system and interesting student life. \nOfficial part of the ceremony was followed by a concert. Elene Kalandadze\, Ilia State University student who participated in the project “Star Academy” entertained the audience along with a band. \nAt the end of each academic year\, on the last Saturday of June\, Ilia State University celebrates the BA graduation ceremony. \n\n[wpai_display_imported_files_here]

SUMMARY:“14 Points of Rondine – For Peace in the Caucasus”
DESCRIPTION:Association “Rondine” invites professors and students of the Ilia State University to a meeting on July 19\, at 3pm (address: building A\, room #101\, 32 Ilia Chavchavadze Ave.). During the meeting\, association will present the project “Wind of Peace on Caucasus” and a document titled “14 Points of Rondine – For Peace in the Caucasus” that was elaborated in the framework of the project. During the event representatives of the Ilia State University and nine Italian Universities will sign framework agreement on cooperation and lauch of exchange programs for professors and students. \nMeeting will be attended by the President of the association “Rondine”\, representative of the local government of Arezzo\, professor from the University of Siena\, students from the city of Rondine who come from different conflict regions of the world. DESCRIPTION:May 22 – A conference dedicated to the International Child Protection Day took place at Ilia State University. \nThe conference was organized by the students of the School of Graduate Studies (track Psychology).
