SUMMARY:Photo Exhibition "The Atomic Bombings of Japan"
DESCRIPTION:On December 16\, a photo exhibition organized by Ilia State University and the Nagasaki National Peace Memorial Hall for the Atomic Bomb Victims will open in Ilia State University Building G Hall. \n“The Atomic Bombings of Japan” \nThe exhibition will feature photographs depicting the aftermath of the bombings of Hiroshima on August 6\, 1945\, and Nagasaki on August 9\, 1945. Written and video recordings of survivors will also be presented. \nThe photo exhibition will conclude on January 30\, 2024\, with awards for students who have excelled in the “World Without Nuclear Weapons” essay competition. \nIn addition to organizing origami crane workshop for students\, their creations will be showcased in the exhibition space. \nAbout the Exhibition \nAt the end of World War II\, on August 6 and 9\, 1945\, the United States of America dropped two atomic bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki\, instantly destroying both cities and killing more than 200\,000 people\, with many thousands suffering for the rest of their lives due to resulting injuries. \nIn memory of the victims of the atomic bomb and to convey the profound impact of the bombings\, the Government of Japan established the National Peace Memorial Halls for the Atomic Bomb Victims in Hiroshima and Nagasaki\, which serve as commemorative monuments of eternal peace. \nSince 2005\, at the initiative of the Nagasaki National Peace Memorial Hall for the Atomic Bomb Victims\, photo exhibitions have been organized around the world to raise awareness about the devastating effects of atomic bombing and call for a peaceful world without nuclear weapons. These exhibitions have already been held in 24 cities across 13 countries. The upcoming exhibition in Georgia is the first of its kind in the country. \nDate and Time: December 16\, 2023 – January 30\, 2024\, 10:00 – 20:00 \nLocation: 1 Giorgi Tsereteli Street\, Ilia State University\, Building G Hall \n2023 \n  \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n[wpai_display_imported_files_here]

SUMMARY:Origami Crane Workshop
DESCRIPTION:On December 22\, at 12:00\, the origami crane workshop will be held for students in Hall G106 at Ilia State University. \nAs part of the photo exhibition “Atomic Bombings of Japan\,” organized by Ilia State University\, and the Nagasaki National Peace Memorial Hall for the Atomic Bomb Victims\, origami cranes made by students will be featured in the exhibition space. \nRisa Uchida\, a Japanese language instructor at Ilia State University\, will conduct the workshop. She is in Georgia as a volunteer with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). \nAbout Origami Cranes \nIn Japan\, cranes are revered as lucky birds. For centuries\, the Japanese have folded origami cranes\, believing that these paper creations can grant their wishes from the gods. \nAt the end of World War II\, a Japanese girl\, a victim of the Hiroshima bombing\, fell ill due to radiation-induced diseases. Disturbed by the pain\, she decided to craft 1000 paper cranes\, believing that doing so would bring her healing from the gods. Unfortunately\, the girl died\, but her story gained widespread recognition\, turning the origami crane into a symbol of peace. Today\, people worldwide\, not only in Japan but also in many other countries\, fold paper cranes to pray for peace. \nTo join the workshop\, please register by 18:00 on December 19. The first 100 registered students will be able to attend. \nFollow the link to register \nWorking Language: Japanese (Consecutive translation into Georgian will be provided) \nDate and Time: December 22\, 12:00 \nLocation:  Ilia State University\, Building G\, Hall 106\, 1 Giorgi Tsereteli Street \n2023 \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n[wpai_display_imported_files_here]
