SUMMARY:Public Lecture: Urban transformation and the importance of sustainable and social public spaces
DESCRIPTION:On December 3 at 7:00 PM\, the Architecture Program at Ilia State University will host a public lecture by Swiss landscape architect Ludger Krabbe. The lecture\, “Urban Transformation and the Importance of Sustainable and Social Public Spaces\,” will showcase projects by BRYUM\, a Basel-based studio. Mr. Krabbe will highlight approaches to open-space urban design that improve residents’ daily lives and benefit the environment. \nAbout the Speaker \nLudger Krabbe is a landscape architect. Since 2015\, he has been a member of BRYUM’s executive management. He has 25 years of experience working in both the public and private sectors in Germany and Switzerland. He is also a guest lecturer at the FHNW University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland. SUMMARY:Public Discussion: Sustainable Design in the Era of Climate Crisis – The Georgian Experience
DESCRIPTION:On 5th December at 7:00 pm\, a public discussion organised by the Architecture Programme at Ilia University will be held on the topic: Sustainable Design in the Era of Climate Crisis – Georgia’s Experience. \nClimate change remains a key global challenge today. As Earth’s temperatures continue to rise quickly\, the frequency and severity of natural disasters such as floods\, droughts\, and wildfires are also expected to increase. These events threaten human life\, health\, and essential resources and lead to substantial infrastructural damage. Countries and cities are working on developing approaches and strategies to reduce climate change impacts\, respond effectively\, and support adaptation. DESCRIPTION:On July 5\, in Auditorium T302 at Ilia State University\, as part of the School of Technology’s weekly seminar series for the spring semester\, Associate Professor Ia Kupatadze and Assistant Professor Nana Zazanashvili from the School of Technology will deliver public lectures: \n\n17:00 – “Tbilisi as an Urban Assemblage – Presentation of the Project Work” by Ia Kupatadze\, Associate Professor from the School of Technology\n\nIa Kupatadze and her team’s research\, which was conducted within the framework of the “Tbilisi as an Urban Assemblage” project\, will be presented at the seminar. With its diverse population\, rich history\, memories\, and urban fabric\, Tbilisi has created a multi-layered depiction of the city that underwent significant changes with the onset of the Soviet period. The city’s planning adhered to the core principles of Soviet urban development\, transforming it into an entity that embodied the ideology of this system. \nThe seminar will delve into the stages of Tbilisi’s development\, its conceptual frameworks\, and current changes\, all within the context of Soviet urbanism principles. \n\n17:40 – “Urban Challenges of Tbilisi: The Right Bank of the Mtkvari as an Example” by Nana Zazanashvili\, Assistant Professor from the School of Technology.  \n\nThe seminar will cover the study’s outcomes\, which offer an overview of urban development trends on the right bank of the Mtkvari River. These materials\, both natural and artificial\, possess unique mechanical\, thermal\, and other properties due to their multi-porous nanoscale structure\, making them highly valuable in engineering\, technology\, medicine\, and many other fields. The audience will gain insights into the types of nanostructured materials being studied and the significance of considering mechanical effects in coupled processes within modern porous media.

The lectures are part of the weekly seminar series for the spring semester of the School of Technology. \nAt 17:00\, Associate Professor Murman Margvelashvili will deliver a public lecture on “Green Hydrogen\, its Role in the Global Energy Transition and the Prospects for Georgia.” \nThe speaker will cover the potential role of green hydrogen in global efforts to combat climate change\, the technical and economic characteristics of modern hydrogen production and consumption technologies\, current processes both globally and regionally\, regulatory aspects\, and prospects for the production and consumption of hydrogen and its derivatives in Georgia. \nAt 17:40\, Davit Chkhaidze\, an invited lecturer from the School of Technology\, will give a public lecture titled “SDTx—Software-Defined RF Transmitter.” \nThe seminar will present a new radio communication device developed by the School of Technology: STDx – Software Defined Radio Transmitters. \nWorking Language: Georgian \nDate and Time: June7\, 17:00\, 17:40 \nLocation: Ilia State University\, Auditorium T302\,  N3/5 K.
