Murphy\, Chief of the Laboratory of Molecular Immunology (LMI) at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) of the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda\, will give a public lecture “Immune Evasion Strategies by Viruses.” \nThis lecture will explore the diverse mechanisms viruses use to avoid and survive detection by the immune system\, focusing on human pathogens of clinical importance. \nAbout the Speaker \nPhilip Murphy is a Senior Investigator and Chief of the Laboratory of Molecular Immunology (LMI) at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) of the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda. \nDr. Murphy studies WHIM syndrome\, a rare primary immunodeficiency disorder caused by mutations in the chemokine receptor CXCR4\, in an attempt to better understand pathogenesis \nand to develop both drug treatment and genetic cure strategies.
