DESCRIPTION:Celebrated around the globe every March\, Women’s History Month seeks to highlight the achievements of women\, their contributions and importance to the society in past and present. \nThe Ilia State University (ISU) School of Law\, namely its Human Rights Programme\, in partnership with Promoting the Rule of Law in Georgia (USAID/PROLoG) Activity implemented by the East-West Management Institute\, joins the celebration through its online campaigns and other events dedicated to women at the forefront of the fight against COVID-19. \nTelevision miniseries Unbelievable: Second Screening and Remote Discussion \nThe ISU Human Rights Club will honour the Women’s History Month by a repeated screening and remote discussion of the television miniseries Unbelievable. \nThe discussion will be conducted via Zoom. Tragic incidents over the last few months have revealed shortcomings in legislation relating to sex crime and its enforcement. \nThe television miniseries Unbelievable is based on a true story of a serial rape case investigation. It vividly shows the challenges sexual offence victims may face in the absence of the proper treatment of the case by the judiciary and the society. \nSpeakers: \nTamar Dekanodize\, Eurasia consultant\, Equality Now \nGoga Khatiashvili\, invited lecturer\, ISU \nModerator: \nMariam Gorgoshadze\, Students\, ISU School of Law \nTime: 18 March\, 7 pm \nMona Lisa Smile: Film Screening and Remote Discussion \nMona Lisa tells a story of Katherine Ann Watson\, who leaves California for Massachusetts to take position teaching History of Art at a Wellesley College. The film reflects the role of women in the American society of the 1950s. \nThe young woman instructor undertakes to help her students in making a choice between restrictive social norms and intellectual freedom. \nThe discussion will be conducted via Zoom.
