SUMMARY:Discussion Fighting Disinformation–from StopFake to Baltic Elves
DESCRIPTION:On 9 November 2018\, at 16:00\, Media Development Foundation (MDF) and Ilia State University (ISU) are holding a discussion Fighting Disinformation–from StopFake to Baltic Elves. The event will take place in Ligamus Book House at ISU. \nStudents will have an opportunity to learn about the Ukrainian and Lithuanian experience of confronting hybrid warfare and disinformation. The Ukrainian experience will be presented by Artem Babek\, an investigative journalist\, Transparency International Ukraine\, while the Lithuanian experience in countering trolls will be introduced by Giedrius Sakalauskas\, representative of the online resistance movement Baltic Elves and an internet activist. \nThe presentations will be followed by a discussion. \nOrganized within the frames of the Project Media Literacy Youth Lab for Responsible Media Consumption\, the event is supported by the US Embassy in Georgia. \nAbout the Speakers: \nGiedrius Sakalauskas\, Lithuanian expert in countering disinformation and a leader of the online resistance movement Baltic Elves aiming at confronting the pro-Kremlin trolls and Russian propaganda \nArtem Babek\, Ukrainian investigative journalist\, an expert in media literacy and fact checking\, now represents Transparency International Ukraine.
