SUMMARY:International Conference on Wildlife Diseases and Species Conservation
DESCRIPTION:On 11 and 12 October\, from 10am to 3pm\, an international conference on Wildlife Diseases and Species Conservation will be held at ISU (room G106). Organized by the Tbilisi Zoological Park\, the conference will be held with the financial support from ISU. \nConference participants include professors from ISU and the Turin and Siena universities\, members of the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) Species Survival Commission\, NACRES (Noah’s Ark Centre for the Recovery of Endangered Species) and the Tbilisi Zoological Park. \n\n The conference speakers will present information on the spread of various diseases in wildlife\, both terrestrial and aquatic\, and their detection\, as well as the importance of the study of disease causes for the conservation of rare species;\nPresentations will be made on the current status and the ways of conservation of mountain ungulates;\nA separate seminar will be dedicated to the planning of conservation of mountain ungulates (12 October\, after the break).\n\n Speakers: \n\nProf. Luca Rossi (University of Turin)\n\nOverview of the major diseases affecting Caprinae \n\n  Prof. Andrea Gröne (Utrecht University)\n\nObservation of wildlife health in the Netherlands–ranavirus induced diseases in amphibians \n\n Prof. Maria Kiki  (Utrecht University)\n\nWildlife diseases in the Netherlands  \n\nProf. Sandro Lovari  (University of Siena\, Chair of the IUCN Caprinae Specialist Group)\n\nClimate change as a potential threat to caprinae  \n\n Dr. Zurab Javakhishvili (ISU)\n\nAvian influenza virus surveillance in wild birds in Georgia  \n\n Ivane Daraselia (Tbilisi Zoological Park)\n\n  Methods of wildlife immobilization  \n\nLevan Ninua (ISU)\n\nStranding Black Sea cetaceans: Study of the causes  \n\nBezhan Lotrkipanidze (NACRES)\n\nEast Caucasian Tur monitoring in the Lagodekhi Protected Areas  \n\nNika Kerdikoshvili (Tbilisi Zoological Park)\n\n Spread and Status of West Caucasian Tur  \n\nProf. Zurab Gurielidze (Tbilisi Zoological Park\, ISU)\n\nConservation of mountain ungulates in Georgia \n\n			\n				\n			\n			\n				\n			\n		\n\n[wpai_display_imported_files_here]
