SUMMARY:Workshop on Caucasus biodiversity research at Ilia State University
DESCRIPTION:In the frame of the International Visegrad Fund project “V4 & Eastern Partnership cooperation in Biodiversity Conservation for Human Well-being”\, the first workshop will take place on September 14th\, 2018 in Building G\, room 106 at Ilia State University. Experts from six countries will have lectures on the biodiversity research\, the importance of biodiversity knowledge and conservation. Participants will present their visions on biodiversity in the Caucasus and discuss the partnership building and cooperation possibilities in biodiversity research in the Caucasus regarding conservation and human well-being. \nWith professionals from the University of Presov (Slovakia)\, Hungarian Natural Museum in Budapest\, University of South Bohemia (Czech Republic)\, University of Lodz (Poland)\, National Academy of Science of Azerbaijan\, and Ilia State University\, participants can look for the possibility of co-operation in both the field and the lab\, to prepare conditions for exchange and internships\, and plan other joint projects.\nThe project and workshop are co-financed by the Governments of Czechia\, Hungary\, Poland\, and Slovakia through Visegrad Grants from International Visegrad Fund. The mission of the fund is to advance ideas for sustainable regional cooperation in Central Europe. \nThe project coordinator is Assoc. Prof. Peter Manko\, Ph.D. His research activities focus on ecology and biodiversity of aquatic invertebrates\, and selected aspects of fish ecology in different territories (as examples Armenia\, Romania\, Spain\, Ukraine\, Slovakia). Except for scientific work\, publication\, and teaching\, he further cooperates with nature conservancy institutions on protected areas biodiversity assessment\, protected areas management proposals\, and environmental impact assessments. He wants to use his experience from research projects coordination to build an effective network of experts working on the research of the Caucasus biodiversity. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n[wpai_display_imported_files_here]
