SUMMARY:Public Lecture -„Macroeconomic and Microeconomic Implications of the Distributed Profit Taxation System\, the Estonian Experience“
DESCRIPTION:On October 4\, 14:00\, in room G 106 of Ilia State University (ISU) a public lecture will be delivered by lecturer of Tartu University\, Mark Kantšukov on the topic Macroeconomic and Microeconomic Implications of the Distributed Profit Taxation System\, the Estonian Experience. The lecture will be held within the event “Estonian Days in Georgia”. \nWorking language: English \nDescription: \nIn the mid of 2016 the parliament of Georgia proposed changes to the country’s tax laws to introduce a new system of corporate income taxation according to which businesses will have to pay income tax only on distributed profits. Estonia introduced a similar model in 2000 and so far it has been the only country in the world having this system of corporate taxation. Georgia\, which used Estonian tax model as an example\, will be the second country in the world to adopt such a model. \nWhat can Georgia learn from the Estonian almost two decades long experience? In the lecture macroeconomic and microeconomic implications\, both theoretical and practical aspects of the distributed profit taxation system for Estonia are discussed. The main focus of the presentation lies on the results of previous scientific and applied studies. \n\nTime: 4 November\, 14:00 \nVenue: room G106\, G. Tsereteli Str. 1 \nAll are welcome to attend the event. \n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n[wpai_display_imported_files_here]

The workshop is organized within the framework of the ongoing “Estonian Days in Georgia”. \nWorking language: English \nAnnotation: We love to create rankings about everything and everyone in the world: the top 5 best countries to live in\, the top 10 books to read this summer\, etc. However\, in addition to entertainment purposes\, many rankings also have a policy impact or an academic stake in it; take Freedom House’s Freedom in the World or Transparency International’s Corruption Perception Index. \nThe workshop discusses the academic and policy interest behind ranking democracies in the world\, introduces some of the well-known democracy indices in the world\, and gives the participants an opportunity to construct their own index of democracy. \nMaili Vilson (1985) is a doctoral fellow at the Johan Skytte Institute of Political Studies\, University of Tartu\, and at the Centre for EU-Russia Studies (CEURUS)\, University of Tartu\, Estonia. Her main research interests include the European Neighborhood Policy\, Europeanization of foreign policy\, democratization and transition studies.
