SUMMARY:Book Presentation-Natasha’s Dance
DESCRIPTION:February 5\, 18:00\, ISU Bookstore “Ligamus will host the presentation of Orlando Figes book titled: “Natasha’s Dance: A Cultural History of Russia|” by Prof.Gigi Tevzadze and Prof. Giga Zedania \nOrlando Figes (born 20 November 1959) is a famous modern British historian. from 1987 to 1999 he was a Lecturer in History and Fellow at Trinity College\, University of Cambridge \, before taking the Chair as Professor of History at Birkbeck College\, University of London. Figes became known for his work : A People’s Tragedy (1996)\, a study of the Russian Revolution\, combines social and political history with biographical details in a historical narrative. Almost a thousand-page book written by a specialist quickly became a bestseller. \nPublished in 2002\, Natasha’s Dance is a broad cultural history of Russia\, here interest of the historian moved from politics to culture. This book also had a great success. Ten years after the publication\, the film director Joe Wright revealed that in understanding of 19th century Russian Culture\, for his 2012 film Anna Karenina\, Natasha’s Dance and its author were the inspirations. Indeed\, this is one of the most critical analysis of Russian Culture\, written with a perfect knowledge of a material and upon virtuous possession of instruments of a modern theoretical reflexion. Not only the content stands behind the success of a book\, but completely perfect style\, that make readers read the  work as a novel. \n\n \n \n \n \n\n[wpai_display_imported_files_here]
