BOOK PRESENTATION
Open Spaces in Large Housing Estates: The Green Superblock in Tbilisi
Join us for the presentation of the book Open Spaces in Large Housing Estates: The Green Superblock in Tbilisi, edited by Barbara Engel (KIT) and Nikolas Rogge (KIT). The publication explores the transformation of open spaces in Tbilisi’s Vazha-Pshavela neighborhood, examining their historical development, current challenges, and potential for sustainable urban transformation. Through spatial analysis, typologies, and experiences from the Green Superblock Living Lab, the book highlights the importance of green and communal spaces for the future of large housing estates.
The present work was developed within the framework of the “Green Superblock – Living Lab” research project, a collaborative initiative undertaken by the Chair for International Urban Planning and Design, Faculty of Architecture, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT); the Odessa State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture; and the Architecture Programme at Ilia State University.
